Volunteer Only Birding Workshop

Volunteer Only Birding Workshop

Join IRC staff members Josie and Kelley as we take a refresher to all things birding during this workshop presented in Agua Chinon. This session is aimed at giving Volunteers field training and experience with birding techniques on bird programs. We will explore the basics of birds, birding and birding resources. Most importantly, we will understand how birds fit into Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s programs, what the Public Programs and Science departments are doing with the birds, and how you can get involved as a volunteer.

Bring your binoculars, if you have them, otherwise IRC will provide some for you. You will have a chance to practice your birding skills through the Agua Chinon wash with basic spotting and identification techniques. In addition, you will have a chance to practice being the leader of the birding group and get some simulated field experience leading birding programs. This workshop is aimed to create a great core of IRC Birders willing to lead AND assist on upcoming birding programs.
