Come join trained Irvine Ranch Conservancy Land Stewards in a scouting hike and weeding adventure along Baker Canyon single track trail and the adjacent creek bed. Along with enjoying the scenery, wildflowers and – if you’re lucky – a glimpse of a mule deer or coyote, you will be learning, searching for, and destroying a few key weeds that could threaten our habitats if they spread. Your targets will be stalwarts such as artichoke thistle and other thistles, tree tobacco and castor bean, as well as Spanish broom and tamarisk. Wear sturdy shoes and be ready for some vigorous work. Training, tools, gloves, and chaps will be provided. Activity will involve bending, stooping, kneeling, and pulling.
Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-4 activity on the land.
