April is the peak blooming month for many flowering plants on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. From deep purple lupine to vibrant orange poppies, the hills come alive with flowers. Spring is also a time when migrating birds are continuing to fly through southern California during their return from winter migrations. On this walk, we will identify some of the wildflowers and birds that we find along the trail, and consider how important they are to each other during this time of year. Please wear sturdy shoes suitable for hiking, along with with sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen. Bring your binoculars, or you may borrow ours.
