Better Birding Basics: Birding by Ear

Birds are often hidden from sight and still reveal their presence by their sounds. Some birds are heard long before they can be seen. Learn a few of the common bird calls, songs, and mechanical sounds as we explore Round Canyon.  To confirm the identities of the birds you hear, please bring your binoculars, or some will be available for your use. This program is part of Better Birding Basic Series.  This activity originates in the City of Irvine and travels into OC Parks’ Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve.

You can attend all three as a series or choose to attend one individually.

Please wear sturdy shoes suitable for hiking, along with sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-1 activity on the land.
