Weekday Slow-Paced Mountain Bike Ride - Highlights of Limestone Canyon

Enjoy the relaxation of riding in the wilderness on empty trails and join us on this docent led mountain bike ride through Limestone Canyon. We will first visit Dripping Springs which is a fern covered, year-round source of water for the local wildlife. The ride will then continue on past the Sinks to our turn-around point at the old ranch water tank on Mustard Road;  this point offers panoramic views of the entire Sinks geological formation, the Agua Chinon watershed, Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-4 activity on the land. Electric Mountain Bikes of any class or type are not permitted.

This is a slow-paced ride designed for the experienced beginner to intermediate rider who is in excellent cardio shape and is physically fit, but sometimes need to move slower on steep ascents/descents. We will ride both fire roads and non-technical single track trails. A few climbs have short steep sections that may be ‘hike-a-bike’ for some riders. The ride will regroup and rest as needed and an opportunity will be provided for a snack break.

Please note, the ride is 19 miles long, with approximately 2400 feet of elevation gain. This program originates at the Hicks Haul Staging Area (north on Jeffrey in Irvine) and the entire route is in the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve.
