Weekday Slow-Paced Mountain Bike Ride - Limestone Canyon from Irvine

Enjoy the relaxation of riding in the wilderness on empty trails, then join us on this docent led mountain bike ride through the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve. This ride will take a route that focuses on single track trails. Limestone Canyon has five single track trails which are largely non-technical trails, but some trails have short technical sections. These single track trails are interconnected with fire roads and we will leave and return to Irvine on the paved Hicks Haul Road.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-4 activity on the land. Motorized recreation vehicles of any class or type are not permitted for recreational use.

This is a slow-paced ride designed for the experienced beginner to intermediate rider who is in excellent cardio shape and is physically fit, but sometimes needs to move slower on steep ascents/descents. In addition to the short technical sections there are a few climbs that have short steep sections that may be “hike-a-bike” for some riders. The ride will regroup and rest as needed and an opportunity will be provided for a snack break.

Please note, the ride is 19 miles long, with approximately 2200 feet of elevation gain. This program originates at the Hicks Haul Staging Area (north on Jeffrey in Irvine) and the entire route is in the Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve.
