IRC Volunteer Only Farm Steward Workday: Native Seed Farm

Stewardship
IRC Volunteer Only Farm Steward Workday: Native Seed Farm

IRC Farm Stewards are invited to help at this all-purpose Farm workday!

Our tasks each day are to be determined, but we’ll be tackling whatever jobs are top priority. Harvesting, weeding, cutting back branches- whatever it takes! Activities may include bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, long periods of standing, reaching, pulling, grabbing, and pushing.

We will be divided into two groups of 3 ( Group A & Group B) and spread out on the Farm in order to distance.

Group A & B will work in different zones. The groups will take alternating breaks, and will need to adhere to the standards outlined in your COVID-19 stewardship guidelines below:

These guidelines and procedures are for volunteers who will be working individually or on a small team (three or less) in the field with no public interaction who can implement volunteer work while maintaining the mandatory physical distancing and other protocols. Until further notice and to minimize exposure and transmission of the COVID-19 virus, please review and strictly follow the procedures below.

You must be able to drive or otherwise transport yourself to a staging area, trailhead, or entry point. Transportation of other people is prohibited.

Before leaving your home to report for volunteer work, conduct a self-assessment by

hands after touching commonly handled surfaces and fixtures like gates, locks, portable
restrooms, etc. If hand sanitizer is not available, a cleaning solution and paper towels
should be used.

water; if liquid soap and paper towels are available, please use them. If not, completely
cover your hands with hand sanitizer and rub vigorously for a minimum of 20 seconds.

If tools or other equipment or supplies are required, you must make arrangements in
advance. Employees will provide sanitized tools and equipment for you to use and will maintain
an inventory of the items provided to you.

upon returning to the IRC bin or a storage site. Your employee contact will arrange
sanitation supplies at IRC or the storage site for your use.

other volunteers.

groups should use only the tools and equipment they brought with them. Under no
circumstances should any tools or equipment be shared.

hands after touching commonly handled surfaces and fixtures like gates, locks, portable
restrooms, etc. If hand sanitizer is not available, a cleaning solution and paper towels
should be used.
● Wash hands frequently, including before eating. Some field sites may have running
water; if liquid soap and paper towels are available, please use them. If not, completely
cover your hands with hand sanitizer and rub vigorously for a minimum of 20 seconds.

IRC Volunteer Only Farm Steward Workday: Native Seed Farm

IRC Farm Stewards are invited to help at this all-purpose Farm workday!

IRC Farm Stewards are invited to help at this all-purpose Farm workday! Our tasks each day are to be determined, but we’ll be tackling whatever jobs are a top priority. Weeding, clearing, cutting, digging, watering,– whatever it takes!

Activities may include bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, long periods of standing, reaching, pulling, grabbing, and pushing. We will be divided into two groups of 3 (Group A & Group B) and spread out into the rows at the Farm and provide plenty of space between individuals.

Just like all settings on the Landmarks, please always be aware of your surroundings. The Native Seed Farm and the surrounding canyons experienced a recent wildfire. There may be unseen and hidden dangers in the area, as well as wildlife crossing through finding refuge. Please be sure to follow all instructions provided to you from your lead during this activity and follow standard trail protocols, including remaining in areas that are designated for your use only. Do not enter structures or remains that may be unstable or areas that are flagged. Do not touch machinery or enter places that you have been instructed to refrain from entering, or areas that look like they have recently been burned. If you are unsure of something, you are encouraged to ask first. Thank you for your continued support.

Before leaving your home to report for the activity, conduct a self-assessment by responding to the questions (current as of February 4, 2021 from the CDC). Please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing/diagnostic-testing.html -OR- use the self-checker bot here:
