Programs led by IRC-Certified Volunteers require pre-registration, which closes at 4 p.m. on the day prior to the event. No walk-up registrations will be permitted for these events. Corporate Stewardship at the Native Seed Farm
AASCSC Corporate Event at the Native Seed Farm
Looking for a way to give back to Nature this summer? Come help us behind the scenes at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s one-of-a-kind Native Seed Farm in Irvine! This morning please help IRC staff and Asian American Senior Citizens Service Center (AASCSC) by harvesting, clearing, cutting, digging, watering,– whatever it takes! Absolutely no experience or special equipment required! Activities may include bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, long periods of standing, reaching, pulling, grabbing, and pushing.
The plants grown at the Native Seed Farm provide seed used for habitat restoration within the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. These plants were specially selected to support local wildlife and promote resilience in the ecosystem.
Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-3 activity on the land.
All IRC volunteers must be in IRC uniform (with proper landowner identification/patch), including your badge(s).
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the activity start time to help set up and prepare for the event.

Monarch Butterfly Stewardship in Bommer
Please join IRC staff water milkweed and nectar plants for the Monarch butterfly in Bommer Canyon. With your help we will create islands of Milkweed and nectar plants that will help support the seasonal migration of Monach butterflies. We may be using shovels and small handheld tools. No experience necessary.

CANCELLED: Keep It Wild – Restoration at Laguna Coast Wilderness Park
Join Laguna Canyon Foundation and OC Parks at one of our habitat restoration stewardship events in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park as we learn and work together to create a healthier habitat for the native plants and wildlife that call the canyon their home. Depending on the time of year, volunteers will assist with various stewardship activities, including removal of non-native plants, seed collection, seeding and/or planting of native plants. No experience is necessary and all tools will be provided. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and sun protection, and bring water. CANCELLED due to Trail Conditions: Stewardship Day at the West Sinks View Deck
Please join us as we enhance habitat adjacent to the west viewing deck at the Sinks in Limestone Canyon. This area is characterized by beautiful geological formations that resemble a mini Grand Canyon. Volunteers will travel for approximately 20 minutes in an open air safari style truck to the project site. The morning will be spent watering native shrubs. We may be using small shovels and other tools. No experience necessary.

Activities may include bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, long periods of standing, reaching, pulling, grabbing, and pushing.

Pulling Together at Quail Hill
North African Knapweed, Centaurea diluta, is a recently introduced invasive plant and we need your help to get rid of it! Invading weeds degrade habitat for wildlife, exacerbate wildfire risks, and reduce overall biodiversity. Help us keep wildlife healthy by weeding North African Knapweed from Quail Hill in Irvine.
This activity takes place on some uneven terrain, and sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended. Training and tools will be provided to ensure your safety and comfort. Rattlesnakes are occasionally seen here and generally avoid people, but protective gear will be provided.
We will meet at the Quail Hill Trailhead parking lot, then walk 15-20 minutes on a bikeway adjacent to the 405 Freeway to the work site.

Visitors to IRC’s Native Seed Farm are first greeted by our Demo Garden, providing inspiration for regionally suitable plant gardens. Our Demo Garden hosts a variety of native plant species which support a healthy local ecosystem!

CANCELLED due to Trail Conditions: Sahara Mustard Removal in Upper Weir Canyon
Sahara Mustard is an invasive nonnative plant on the OCParks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. Please join us in our efforts to reduce the spread and impact of this weed! Unfortunately, Sahara Mustard has made its way into Weir Canyon. Early and aggressive removal of this plant will help minimize the spread of this invasive species.
We will meet at Parking Lot C in Irvine Regional Park and use a safari type vehicle to drive to the site. This activity takes place on some uneven terrain, and sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended. Training and tools will be provided to ensure your safety and comfort.

Youth Action Team Stewardship at Native Seed Farm
The Youth Action Team, an after school community-service based program throughout the City of Irvine regularly volunteers their time to steward the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. This week, middle school students will spend their afternoon helping at the Native Seed Farm! Stewardship activities can include planting native species, weeding, harvesting seed, nursery work, watering and more. Please help lead this group and provide a wonderful experience they will never forget!
