Programs led by IRC-Certified Volunteers require pre-registration, which closes at 4 p.m. on the day prior to the event. No walk-up registrations will be permitted for these events. Sunset Yoga in Bommer Canyon
Join us for this relaxing combination of hiking and yoga in Bommer Canyon. Participants will hike around a 1-mile loop, strolling through the local meadow and finding unity within nature. Then we will return to our yoga mats where we will be led in 45 to 60 minutes of guided yoga, as the canyon slowly calms down from the day.
Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a durable yoga mat to rest on the dirt. An extra cloth or padding is highly recommended, in addition to two towels for yoga positioning assistance. Some evenings are chilly, so dress in layers that are flexible to move in; jeans are not recommended. Remember to wear sun protection for the hike such as a hat and sunscreen.

Family Hike – Round Canyon
Enjoy nature with friends and family in Round Canyon. We hike along a fairly flat trail as we watch for red-tailed hawks and mule deer. The hike averages 2-3 miles round trip at an easy pace with a medium level of interpretation. This program is for participants who would like a slower-paced and level hike.
Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring water for the hike. Be ready to enjoy the sounds and smells of the early evening.

Evening Family Beginner Mountain Bike Ride in Limestone Canyon
Join IRC-certified volunteers on a longer slow-paced, family-oriented ride for adults and children 12 years old and up that have wilderness trail riding experience through sycamores, oaks, and habitat native to California. The route takes us to The Sinks, Orange County’s own “Grand Canyon.”

Round Canyon Evening Hike
Come out and enjoy the evening with us on the Round Canyon trail. This trail meanders through an oak woodland and riparian area and provides a glimpse into a beautiful canyon along the northern edge of the Irvine city limits.
The two and a half mile out and back route has a gradual incline the entire way out, but the hike is done at a moderate pace. Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes. This hike is suitable for children age 8 and up.

Intermediate Evening Mountain Bike Ride
Explore Limestone Canyon by night on this intermediate mountain bike night ride. We will ride out of Augustine, up Loma Ridge, down to The Sinks, and along Limestone Ridge or Limestone Valley, depending on the group. Please plan for a distance between 10 and 15 miles. Hopefully we will see some wildlife, but we certainly will have an adventure!
Trails include natural hazards such as sand, tree roots, exposed rocks, and ruts. Expect several steep climbs on this 12-mile ride with an elevation gain of 2,600 feet. This night ride is for experienced adult riders. Lights required.

Shhh…Hike, Look and Listen
Come end your day with a quiet walk through the calming canyons on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. We will watch for soaring red-tailed hawks, listen to birds quietly sing, and inhale the fragrance of fresh sage. Shed away the day’s repetitions and join us as we take a “slow walk” into Baker Canyon, mindful of all that is happening around us. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight and be prepared for the canyon’s cooler evening temperatures by wearing warm layers. Take in the tranquil evening as we quietly walk along the trails.

Family Hike – Agua Chinon
Enjoy an early evening family hike on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. We hike a gradul climb of 500′ elevation of as we watch for red-tailed hawks and mule deer. The hike will average 3 miles round trip at an easy pace with a medium level of interpretation.
This program is for participants who would enjoy a slower-paced gradual climb hike. Hikers should be in good health able to do a beginning hike over a variety of terrains. Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring water for the hike. Be ready to enjoy the sounds and smells of early evening.

Independence Day Fireworks Night Hike
Join us for what’s sure to be an exciting evening of watching the fireworks from atop the hills in Irvine’s Open Space. This is a challenging hike geared toward experienced hikers with appropriate hiking shoes. Come and enjoy a little nighttime in the wilderness and celebrate our country’s independence. Flashlights are recommended, red tinting preferred.
Bring a lightweight chair or blanket, which you can carry up the trail, to sit on while watching the fireworks. The viewing location that we will be using is on an incline. Hiking poles are recommended; bring binoculars to watch the fireworks. Wear appropriate clothing layers, it will be warm hiking up and cool while watching the fireworks.

Intermediate Evening Mountain Bike Ride from Irvine to Loma Ridge
This intermediate mountain bike ride climbs up to Loma Ridge on the paved Hicks Haul Road, with increasingly beautiful views as we ascend. It then follows Loma Ridge, offering fantastic vistas of Orange County, Irvine, and even Catalina on clear days, as well as the surrounding wildlands. There will be sunset views from Loma Ridge to Shoestring to Sandtrap to East Loma then return to Hicks staging area.

Agua Chinon Evening Hike
Come out and enjoy the evening with us on the lower section of the Agua Chinon trail. This trail meanders along a dry wash, at the bottom of a beautiful sage scrub covered canyon and below the Sinks formation, providing a glimpse into a beautiful riparian area along the northern edge of the Irvine city limits.
The three to four mile out and back route has some elevation gain on the way out, but the hike is done at a moderate pace. Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes. This hike is not suitable for children under 10.
