Programs led by IRC-Certified Volunteers require pre-registration, which closes at 4 p.m. on the day prior to the event. No walk-up registrations will be permitted for these events. Wildflower Hike
The heavy rains of winter have lifted and revealed a beautiful bouquet of California wildflowers. Join us for a casual hike along Peters Canyon’s North Loop and Cactus Point Trails with beautiful views of the reservoir. Along the way, we will peruse the petals of some of our favorite blooms currently sprouting this spring season along with some of the year-round favorites.
The walk will begin at the front of the Ranger Station, located near the parking lot, and travel approximately 3 miles.
Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is recommended.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the program and strollers are not recommended. Sun protection, wearing sturdy footwear, and bringing water are strongly encouraged.
Inclement weather will cancel the program.
The program is free and parking is $5 per vehicle.

Phone Photo Friday
Cell phones are everywhere. Chances are, you’re reading this program description on one right now. Why not put that phone to greater use by getting outside and using it to engage with our parks? If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about that camera you carry with you every day, join us for a beginner’s program to taking better photos with your cell phone. Each session will cover photography theory basics, phone camera settings, editing techniques, with time to practice in the park.
The program will begin outside the Peters Canyon Regional Park Ranger Station. Be prepared to hike around and explore the landscape at your leisure.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the program and strollers are not recommended. Sun protection, wearing sturdy footwear, and bringing water are encouraged.
The program is free and parking is $3 per vehicle.

Nature Journaling: Marsh
Nature journaling is a wonderful tool for nature observations, creating lasting memories and making deeper connections with the world around us. Each session will cover the basics of art theory and practices, journal anatomy and maximizing your senses. This month’s journaling theme is “marsh.”
The program will begin outside the Peters Canyon Regional Park Ranger Station. Bring a nature journal and your own art materials such as pencils, pens, or watercolors. A portable chair is recommended along with sun protection, water and snacks. Be prepared to move along the trail a moderate distance and sit to document the beauty around you.
The program is free and parking is $5 per vehicle.

Restoration Day: Weeding
Calling all weed warriors! Lend a helping hand to help improve native habitat in Peters Canyon Regional Park. Dedicate the morning to weeding current and future restoration sites and help our native plants and shrubs thrive.
Strong gardening gloves, trail snacks, water, sun protection and wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty are highly recommended.
Program and parking are free. Parking passes will be made available to volunteers at check-in. This program will begin outside the Peters Canyon Regional Park Ranger Station and then will proceed to the restoration site. Be prepared to hike a moderate distance to the restoration site with tools.

Parks After Dark
We love the nightlife! Explore the landscape of Peters Canyon Regional Park as we set out to search for the nighttime critters that call this park home. From humble toads to graceful owls, you never know what you’ll see!
Dressing in layers, wearing sturdy footwear, and bringing water are recommended. Red-tinted flashlights are highly encouraged. This hike is not recommended for very small children or strollers. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the program.
The program is free and parking is $3 per vehicle.
