Description
The ride will start at the sandy bottom of a wide, deep wash, lush with riparian growth. The trail climbs steadily through coastal sage scrub until it meets the southern end of Limestone Canyon. Riders will have ever changing views of the surrounding hills and the Sinks, a geological point of interest. At the top of our climb, we will find a water trough left from the old cattle days, where the horses can drink and rest. As we continue on, the trail follows Box Spring Canyon where riders have an opportunity to see evidence of Native Americans and a diverse display of wildlife and plant life. After making a small loop, we return by the same route from which we came.
This ride does not have steep climbs, but the grades are steady and continuous. Equestrians with their own horse, the ability to trailer to the staging area, and trail riding experience are welcome. To properly enjoy this ride, you are cautioned to bring a calm and well conditioned horse. Since there is no water at the staging area, you must bring water for your horse, as well as, yourself.
