Description

Cancelled due to Fire Watch

Discover unique historical tales about the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks as we celebrate different cultures together! Each month, a different culture and celebration will be highlighted, usually with the program presented in multiple languages which will allow for everyone to fully enjoy the beauty of the land.

This month we will focus on the Mexican celebration of Las Posadas, Spanish for lodging or inn. A celebration enjoyed for over 400 years in Mexico, it shares in the delight of communities coming together in song and dance for nine days before Christmas. It takes the biblical narrative of Joseph and Mary searching for lodging from the cold. As winter approaches, animals will also look to nestled homes for shelter. Come listen to the tales and experience the traditions of Las Posadas before you go on a morning walk to search for animal homes along the trail.
