Enjoy the early morning with a hike around an avocado orchard and up to the base of Changala’s Pass on preserved land located at the north end of the City of Irvine. The orchards present plentiful shade, perfect for human and wildlife visitors, and also views of Palos Verdes and Catalina when weather is clear. Commonly seen wildlife include Red-tailed hawks, mule deer and coyotes, often heard in the distance. Beginning at 7:00 am provides a wonderfully cool start to your day.
Elevation gain is substantial within our 3 mile route, including a few steep climbs. Please wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen, bring water and a hat. On the way, you will see several diverse habitats—coastal sage scrub, grassland, orchard, and riparian—making this location a very special place to visit within the Ranch.
