The New Volunteer Training hike is designed to showcase the ins and outs of a public activity, such as proper set up of materials, activity structure and procedures, reading emergency access maps, understanding trail routes, operating the gates, locks, and radios, materials to carry on an activity, and discussing situations that can occur along the trail. These details will better prepare Trainees to become Trail Guides and appropriately assist on private and public guided activities.
A minimum of two volunteer-only training hikes are required to achieve certified Trail Guide status.
Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-2 activity on the land.
