Description

Parks with Purpose is a new field trip program designed to expose 4th graders from traditionally underserved communities to the amazing resources and opportunities OC Parks has to offer. This program is part of a 10 week program which is designed to show students how parks help us understand the past, enjoy the present and preserve the future. This visit will include a scavenger hunt in the Interpretive Center where the County’s fossil and artifact collections are displayed, a visit to the fossil bed across the street where students become paleontologists and search for real fossils, and a related activities.

Volunteers are needed to help support the park staff leading the program. Duties may include helping get students organized when they get off the buses, assisting with craft activities, acting as sweeps and helping students cross Rosecrans to reach the fossil bed safely, and answering questions from parents and teachers.

The program is anticipated to take place from 9:00am to 11:00am. Please arrive at 8:30am for activity assignments and set up, and be prepared to stay until 11:30am.

Volunteers must have completed Clark Regional Park Interpretive Docent training or have prior approval from Sarah Hoemke to sign up for this opportunity.
