Description

Join us for a Saturday morning adventure as we trek over Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park’s  Borrego Canyon Trail to Red Rock Canyon. Be inspired by the magnificence of the canyon’s oak woodlands as we stroll under the canopy of century-old oak trees. Soak up the mystery and history of Red Rock Canyons’ ancient sandstone rock formations. Along the way we will discover why California‘s earliest inhabitants revered the mighty oak. We will also discover how countless creatures depend on dying, even dead, oaks to survive and thrive. There is much more to see, hear and experience along this popular trail so join us for some invigorating exercise, sensory stimulation and nature interpretation.

The trail offers shade and sun so come prepared for the cool morning walk by wearing comfortable, breathable layers, a hat and sturdy, close-toed hiking boots/shoes or sturdy athletic footwear. Be prepared for the muddy, rocky and uneven portions of the trail. Hiking pole(s) and a light backpack or waist pack is recommended for toting your identification, phone, medication, extra clothing, a snack, at least 24 ounces of water, sunscreen, phone, camera and binoculars.
