Seasonal Science Series: Intro to iNaturalist at the Butterfly Enhancement Project

Join us for a hike related to current IRC projects focused on research, monitoring, and conservation. The series will rotate through the landscape based on the season and projects.

For this series, we will spend the morning hiking along Limestone Canyon where we will look for plants and animals and learn how to identify them using the iNaturalist app. For this activity you will need to download the free app on your smart phone BEFORE arriving to participate in the activity. We will stop at 2-3 butterfly plots for 5-10 minutes and using the app document the flora and fauna that we see. After we will finish with a hike up to Dripping Springs, a natural water source dripping out of an earthquake fault and down a gorgeous fern-covered rock face.

Please note that you will be asked to adhere to the following measures during the activity in order to participate:

Be registered in advance, no walk-up registration is permitted.
Arrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail, including water, proper attire, and closed-toe footwear, first aid, health needs etc.
Restrooms will be available, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual.
You may be prevented from participating if you do not adhere to the above protocols.

Additionally, in an effort to respect and protect all employees, volunteers, and participants, please do not sign up or attend if you are not feeling well, exhibiting any symptoms of illness or have been in recent contact with someone who was ill.
