YOU MUST ARRIVE TO THE STAGING AREA BY CAR. BICYCLES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PRIVATE ROAD BETWEEN THE INTERSECTION OF PORTOLA/JEFFREY AND THE HICKS HAUL ROAD GATE.
This is an intermediate MTB ride starting from the Hicks Haul Road Gate to provide shorter access for Irvine Residents to Limestone Canyon. Bicycles are not allowed on the private road from Portola/Jeffrey to the Hicks Haul Road Gate (close to the toll road) due to hazarduous truck traffic, and will likely be stopped by the security company that monitors the road. You MUST drive your car to the staging area or you will be turned away from the program.
The ride starts at the Toll Road underpass and climbs up to Loma Ridge on the paved Hicks Haul Road with a widening view over Irvine and Coastal Orange County. From there it will follow Loma Ridge, offering fantastic vistas of the OC area, as well as the wild lands beneath. We will visit The Sinks, OC’s own “Grand Canyon” and then climb up to Limestone Ridge, a fun single track with views of Saddleback and Santiago Canyon, which we will follow down towards the Augustine Staging area. From there we will follow the Shoestring Trail to climb back up to Loma Ridge and then coast back down to our starting point on the paved Hicks Haul Road.
