Start some seedlings! Friday Nursery Day at the Native Seed Farm

Curious about how to grow native plants? Want to try it out? Come join us at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s one-of-a-kind Native Seed Farm in Irvine for a special Native Plant Nursery workday. Absolutely no experience required!

Usually we work together out in the Farm’s fields, but every now and then we can use your help to start some new seedlings (a.k.a baby plants). By winter they will be planted right here at the Native Seed Farm where they will to grow up and be ready to produce seed by next summer and fall.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-1 activity at the Native Seed Farm.

The plants you will help us grow have a direct impact on our local wildlife, because the seed they produce will be harvested and used to restore animal habitat within the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. Restoring native plants is also a very important way to protect the land from having wildfires too frequently, so your work will go a long way towards helping nature.

Not only is helping out at the Farm good for nature, but it’s good for you too! Come get a dose of Nature and learn more about how to grow native plants!
