Join us for a hike and possible sightings of the Perseids meteor shower. We will hike 2.5 miles round-trip up the Mesa to view this yearly event, where the debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle is visible to us. This hike is done at a slow pace with some 400′ elevation gain. It is recommended that you bring a camp chair that is portable to set up on an uneven dirt surface to enjoy the evening, be sure you can hike with your chair. Wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, and dress in layers as the day may be warm, but the evening may be cool.
We will be sedentary while watching the meteor shower. There are no facilities where we will be viewing and the group cannot separate. We will be in a wilderness setting, so children are asked to remain with the group and with their parent or guardians at all times.
Factors such as marine layer, particulate matter, or light pollution from surrounding urban areas may affect visibility and/or cancellation of this activity.
