Come join us for an interactive evening under the stars. Immerse yourself in a scaled down version of our solar system. Test your imagination in naming the constellations. Reenact the struggle between Orion and the Scorpion. The hike will average 2-3 miles round trip at an easy pace with a high level of interpretation. This program is for participants who would like a slower paced hike. In addition to our hike, we will be able to look for Perseids meteors in the staging area. So, be sure to bring a camp chair, blankets, for after the hike. Dress in layers as it tends to get chilly late in the evening.
Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes and bring water for the hike.
Understanding the 1-through-5 Difficulty ratings system will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-2 activity on the land.
This viewing and hike is family-friendly, but children must be closely supervised by an adult and remain seated with the group.
We will be sedentary while watching the meteor shower. There are limited facilities where we will be viewing and the group cannot separate. We will be in a wilderness setting, so children are asked to remain with the group and with their parent or guardians at all times.
