Join us for possible sightings of the Perseids meteor shower. We will stretch out under the stars to capture one of this yearly event, where the debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle is visible to us. We will view the different stars, constellations and planets as we watch for meteors crossing the night sky.
This viewing is family-friendly, but children must be closely supervised by an adult and remain seated with the group It is recommended that you bring a camp chair that is portable to set up on an uneven dirt surface to enjoy the evening. Wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, and dress in layers as the day may be warm, but the evening may be very cool.
We will be sedentary while watching the meteor shower. There are limited facilities where we will be viewing and the group cannot separate. We will be in a wilderness setting, so children are asked to remain with the group and with their parent or guardians at all times.
Factors such as marine layer, particulate matter, or light pollution from surrounding urban areas, may affect visibility and/or cancellation of this activity.
