Dig in! Plant & Protect Wildflowers with the Native Seed Farm

Want to have fun while giving back to nature? Then come help out at the Native Seed Farm in Irvine!   There you can help the Irvine Ranch Conservancy grow and harvest native seeds which will be used to repair wildland right here in Orange County.

This winter we will be working together to add new little plants at the Farm. Once they are all planted, we will use creative tools and techniques to defend them from weeds! No experience required.  All gloves and tools are provided.

Please note our Minors Policy as shown on the letsgooutside.org website:  Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Each adult and child must be registered.

You will need to bring and wear the right things, so read the Stewardship Tips  in your confirmation email. If you are under-prepared you may be turned away.

Reviewing the 1-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this Level 2 activity.

It’s a lovely way to get some fresh air. And your work at the Farm will pay off!  The baby plants you plant and defend will make seed that you can help us harvest later in the year. Then the Irvine Ranch Conservancy will sow the seeds out in the wild to re-grow damaged areas within the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks. Having more native plants provides wild animals with food and shelter. And it provides us with beauty! They also help buffer us all from the danger of floods and wildfires.
