Young Explorers: Of Cosmic Proportions

Young Explorers: Of Cosmic Proportions

Did you know, the Milky Way galaxy contains billions of solar systems and we are just one of those solar systems? Join us as we take a closer look at the objects found in our solar system and learn about planetary science. Afterwards we will go on a hike in Limestone Canyon Wilderness Preserve and observe the night sky!

This program is for young explorers, ages 7 to 9 years of age. We will be stimulating our curiosity by exploring our program’s topic, possibly playing a game or crafting a model, and then we will head out on the trails to apply what we learned. Our hike will be a gentle one to two mile trek along uneven terrain.  Since this will take place in the late evening, make sure to wear extra layers and bring a flashlight. A parent or guardian must register and attend with their child.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-2 activity on the land.
