Slow-Paced Mountain Bike Ride - Fremont and Weir Canyons

Enjoy the relaxation of riding in the wilderness on empty trails, then join us on this mountain bike through Fremont and Weir Canyons. This ride is for experienced off-road riders, in excellent cardio shape, that may need to climb at a slower pace or just desire to more fully enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of their surroundings. We will climb out of Irvine Regional Park on Coal Mine Road to the Fremont Canyon Weather Station and will be provided with a 360 degree view of Southern California . We will return to the staging area by riding through Upper Blind Canyon and across the Overlook Trail and down Upper Weir Canyon.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-4 activity on the land. Motorized recreation vehicles of any class or type are not permitted for recreational use.

With the exception of the Overlook Trail, this ride is entirely on fire roads, but includes sections that are steep (both up and down) and potentially will have loose rocks/soil. These steep sections may be ‘hike-a-bike’ for some riders. The Overlook Trail is a non-technical single track trail that follows the ridge line west of the toll road. The ride will regroup and rest as needed and multiple opportunities will be provided for a snack break.
Please note, the ride is a difficult 17 miles long, with approximately 2000 feet of elevation gain and will take about 3 and a half hours to complete. It is important that participants bring sufficient food and water for a ride of this difficulty and duration. This program originates at Irvine Regional Park, Lot C and ventures into the Fremont Canyon Wilderness Park and the Weir Canyon Wilderness Park.
