This hike is done at your own pace as a walk, jog, or run (speed range typically 2.5 to 3.5 mph), so is suitable for beginners who are just starting their fitness program as well as more experienced hikers who are looking for a workout.
This out-and-back program travels the 3.5 mile route to scenic Loma Ridge (450′ elevation gain) and back down, with most participants completing the route in about 1.5 hours.

Intermediate Evening Mountain Bike Ride
Explore one of the most pristine wilderness areas in Orange County by night on this special mountain bike ride through Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve. We will ride out of Augustine, up Loma Ridge, down to The Sinks,and along Limestone Ridge. Please plan for a distance between up to 15 miles. Hopefully we will see some wildlife, but we certainly will have an adventure!
Trails include natural hazards such as sand, tree roots, exposed rocks, and ruts. Expect several steep climbs on this 12-mile ride with an elevation gain of 2,600 feet. This night ride is for experienced adult riders. Lights required.

Cancelled – Round Canyon Evening Hike
Program is cancelled.
Come out and enjoy the evening with us on the Round Canyon trail. This trail meanders through an oak woodland and riparian area and provides a glimpse into a beautiful canyon along the northern edge of the Irvine city limits.
The two and a half mile out and back route has a gradual incline the entire way out, but the hike is done at a moderate pace. Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes. This hike is suitable for children age 8 and up.

Starry, Starry Night
Come join us for an interactive evening under the stars. Immerse yourself in a scaled down version of our solar system. Test your imagination in naming the constellations. Reenact the struggle between Orion and the Scorpion. The hike will average 2-3 miles round trip at an easy pace with a high level of interpretation. This program is for participants who would like a slower paced hike. Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes and bring water for the hike.

Agua Chinon Evening Hike
Come out and enjoy the evening with us on the lower section of the Agua Chinon trail. This trail meanders along a dry wash, at the bottom of a beautiful sage scrub covered canyon and below the Sinks formation, providing a glimpse into a beautiful riparian area along the northern edge of the Irvine city limits.
The three to four mile out and back route has some elevation gain on the way out, but the hike is done at a moderate pace. Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes. This hike is not suitable for children under 10.

Buck Gully Reserve Upper Loop Evening Hike
Explore the richness of Newport Beach’s Buck Gully Reserve as we hike during a beautiful spring evening. The stream is running and the diverse plant life is growing and blooming, making for a fantastic evening hike in a natural oasis amid the suburban surroundings. For a short distance, we’ll walk along San Joaquin Hills Road which overlooks Buck Gully, and then drop down into the canyon on the Bobcat Trail and loop back through the upper end of the gully along the Buck Gully Trail.
PLEASE NOTE: Poison oak grows in abundance throughout the entire Buck Gully Reserve trail system. If you are susceptible to poison oak, please plan accordingly.

Picnic and Evening Hike in Bommer Canyon
How about a family picnic dinner in Bommer Canyon? Bring your own picnic dinner to enjoy prior to a brief hike through Bommer. The first 30-40 minutes of the program are dedicated to enjoying the dinner that you bring to the Cattle Camp picnic grounds. Bring food that is already prepared. No cooking is allowed. Dinner is followed up by a 1.5-to-2- hour evening hike. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes for the hike. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
