Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing
![Interpretive](https://irlandmarks.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/activity-icon-interpretive.png)
Enjoy an evening under a night sky illuminated by the cascading flashes of meteors! The Perseid Meteor Shower is an annual event in the middle of August, producing about 100 meteors an hour. With a quick eye, you may catch many glimpses of a flash of light streaking across the sky. You’ll hear astronomy folklore, search for different constellations, and discover nocturnal critters that call the canyon home. An optional night hike is available, or bring your own blankets, chairs, and snacks to simply relax and enjoy the nighttime show!
The program will begin outside of the Peters Canyon ranger station. Dressing in layers, wearing sturdy footwear, and bringing water are recommended. Red-tinted flashlights are highly encouraged. The hike is not recommended for very small children or strollers, but the meteor shower viewing is suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the program.
The program is free and parking is $5 per vehicle.
Registration is required for this program.
