–OPEN FOR SELF-GUIDED ACCESS & SCHEDULED PROGRAMS–
Rich in both Irvine Ranch lore and nature’s wonders, Bommer Canyon beckons walkers, hikers and all other outdoor enthusiasts to stroll past ancient oak and sycamore groves and rough rock outcrops. Much like the City’s Quail Hill Loop Trail specific trails in this area are open daily for self-guided hikes from dawn to dusk; however, other areas within Bommer can only be accessed through guided programs and do require pre-registration. Monthly Wilderness Access Days are available to allow hikers and bikers the chance to explore the network of outstanding trails and views of the area.
A wide variety of activities are offered by the City of Irvine in partnership with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy.

Bommer Pass Trail Update
The Bommer Pass Trail in Bommer Canyon re-opened on Friday, March 28, after the completion of a habitat restoration and trail repair project. City officials announced the closure in January to allow Irvine Ranch Conservancy to repair trailside damage and trail erosion. While the trail was closed, Conservancy staff and volunteers worked to repair the trail surface, improve drainage and plant cactus and other native plants in trailside habitat areas. Members of the community also participated in the restoration project during a public volunteer day on March 19.
Here are a few before-and-after photos of the trail repair and habitat restoration.
