Growing Together at the Native Seed Farm

Looking for a way to give back to Nature this Summer? Come help us behind the scenes at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s one-of-a-kind Native Seed Farm in Irvine! Every day at the farm is different; depending on the needs of the farm we will be harvesting seeds from beautiful native plants, planting new seeds in the annual plots, working in our native plant demo garden, or tending to younger seedlings in our nursery.

Working with us at the Native Seed Farm is a great way to grow your community and cultivate knowledge about local plant and wildlife! Absolutely no experience or special equipment required!

Seasonal Science Series: Intro to iNaturalist at the Butterfly Enhancement Project

Be part of a hiking series inspired by current IRC projects in research, monitoring, and conservation. This rotating series highlights different areas of the landscape depending on the season and ongoing projects.

In this session, we’ll spend the morning exploring Limestone Canyon, observing local plants and animals, and learning how to identify them using the iNaturalist app.

Before arriving, please download the free iNaturalist app and create an account on your smartphone to fully participate in the activity.

During the hike, we’ll stop at 2–3 butterfly monitoring plots for 5–10 minutes each to document the flora and fauna we encounter using the app. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to community science while deepening your connection to the land.
