Winter Solstice Hike

Interpretive

We all know that the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, but most people are unaware that “solstice” also describes the specific moment when the earth’s axis is aimed furthest away from the sun!

Join OC Parks staff on a winter solstice hike at Upper Newport Bay to take a break from the holiday festivities, burn some calories, and learn about the shortest day of the year!

It may be the shortest day of the year, but we can still get outside, enjoy nature, and learn about the reasons for the seasons.

We will be walking approx. 2-3 miles on well developed trails with some hills.

Minors aged 16 and younger must have legal guardian present at all times. Rain will cancel the event.

Walk in’s welcome, but space is limited, so registration is suggested.
