Curious about the tiny creatures buzzing all around Laguna Coast Wilderness Park? Insects may be small, but they play a huge role in the health of our coastal canyons’ ecosystems! Join Tom Van, insect enthusiast and Conservation Technician at Laguna Canyon Foundation, to learn how these often-overlooked creatures help keep our natural spaces thriving and the wild adaptations they’ve evolved to survive in our local Coastal Sage Scrub habitat. It’s time to see bugs in a whole new light!
This walk will be approximately 1.5 miles long on mostly flat, uneven terrain.
Age: 12 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Location: Nix Nature Center, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (18751 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach 92651, East side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133).
Parking: $3/car at Nix Nature Center parking lot. Parking is limited, carpooling is encouraged.
Difficulty Rating: 2/5
Materials: Participants must bring plenty of water, closed-toed shoes, and sun protection.
